It's really big here in North Carolina in the Japanese Steakhouses (though it's not Japanese at all). There are a lot of recipes online that are complete mishaps, however, after tweaking two different recipes I created something that was closer to the actual sauce that you would find in the restaurants.
This really is amazing on homemade Hibatchi, fried rice, sushi, and even burgers!
shrimp / yum yum sauce:
Ingrediants:
1-2 cup(s) mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sugar
1-2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons of the heavy syrup from peaches in a can
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 - 1 tablespoon ketchup (to give it that pink-orange color)
1-3 teaspoons paprika
1-3 teaspoons garlic powder
Just mix everything together in a medium bowl and if you need to, you can adjust it to your liking. This is probably the most accurate recipe out there. It's took me several days to get this right, because it's such a mystery. So I hope you enjoy!
