I never understood why, in the South, the first thing in a store
to go is the bread and milk when it comes to a pending snow storm...
I kid you not, every Food Lion, Harris Teeter and Aldi was out of either bread, milk or both. You have to go all the way to the next town, thirty minutes over just to get milk and even then it's slim pickings.

This isn't like
the North, where everything never slows down, if it snows you're still going to
work and school, period. However, here businesses close down, everything comes
to a halt and everyone kind of freaks out. But despite how crazy everything was
here, we managed to have a pretty quiet and cozy Saturday.
Every time it snows, I have this tradition with the kids to take
pictures of us together. I’ve done this since the older two were little. It’s a
nice little sentiment for them to have later. I feel like I’m constantly
worried about making memories and photographs for the kids.
My mom has been gone for seven and half years now, and she hated
being in front of the camera. I don’t have many photos of her and me together.
So I want to have plenty of pictures of my children and me together. I want
them to have that, because those are so precious to have.
By the time I
managed to get the kids out in the snow this morning, they immediately wanted
to go in. It took way too long to get them ready than it did the time they were
out there. It was seriously an hour fussing about what they can wear out,
changing, eating, brushing hair and teeth, finding hats and gloves (which they
mysteriously misplaced somewhere, so we improvised with some old socks).
It was like we were going
on a long trip or something. When we finally got out there, the kids were
complaining that it was too cold and that they wanted to go in so badly. I had
to legit beg to get photos of them! Ezra’s eczema is pretty bad right now
too, so I couldn’t keep him out long there long anyway. We were out there not
even fifteen minutes and his cheeks still got inflamed and red even after I globed
tons of ointment on his skin. This winter has been really rough on Ezra so far
and I can’t help but cry because I know it hurts sometimes. But, he was a trooper for me, even if he
hated the snow all together.
I'm from the South, born and raised. A couple years ago school was cancelled because the weather was going to be really cold. No ice or snow on the forecast, but just because we apparently can't handle the cold. I'm almost embarrassed to say that. And despite the fact that I've only seen snow once, I absolutely LOVE snow pictures, and yours are beautiful!
